The book investigates the relationships and direct connections between the science of perspective and the invention of sixteenth and seventeenth century scenography; which in the city of Venice found the ideal location for the publication of treatises in this field, becoming the undisputed home of Baroque melodrama. In this context publications reconstruct the events of the protagonists, authors of shows and events, but the figure of the set designer is often ancillary. At the same time, the treatises on perspective alternate the fundamentals of the geometric rules of its construction, with practical indications for the creation of the sets and the machines capable of animating them.
Hence the need to relate the fundamentals of the science of perspective representation with the projects of the set designers who worked in Venice, through three-dimensional reconstructions of the sets, made possible by the reinterpretation of the original drawings, comparison of historical and documentary sources and the spatial relationship with the theatres where the shows were produced.
