This publication comes as a study in the framework of series of books on the impact of different design cultures in Albania, highlighting the influence of the Austro-Hungarian Empire on the development of the country in the early 20th century. The work was carried out under a cooperation project between the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU) of the Polytechnic University of Tirana (PUT) and the Arkivi Qendror Teknik i Ndërtimit (AQTN).
This research puts light on the influence of Austria-Hungary in the period after the independence of Albania in the years 1916-1935, before the strong Italian influence in Albanian society, not only to record the technical projects realized at that time but also to present the contribution given during the period of Albanian identity. The publication identifies som of the most prominent design projects of Austro-Hungarian engineers and specialists in the field of urban planning, architecture and artworks in infrastructure, based on the documents provided by the AQTN fund and from the research of various publications that handle this period.
